July, my favourite month of the year because it's my birthday month 🥳 With every passing year, I age gracefully by making July all about me. Oops, that doesn't sound so graceful after all 😜
This year I'm celebrating a half-milestone: my 45th. While I appreciate that every year is a gift, I've decided that from 2025 onwards, birthdays deserve to be celebrated differently, because, as the saying goes, life is too bloody short!
This year, along with the milestone of bringing the Bookcellar to life, I would like to celebrate my passion project by bringing my Bookcellar community a treat.
As with all booklovers, we are guilty for buying and hoarding books over a number of years. I am no different. So steering slightly away from my curation, I bring you "from my shelf to yours".
I am introducing the Mature Collection which has been curated from my shelf scouring through all of my book hauls. These books have been preloved for very different reasons. Some of these reasons stand out in my memory and I have shared those with you in their listing, and some, with years that passed, I may have suffered some lapse in memory (happens with aging)
I have made a standard price of R99 per book, whilst most of them are in good condition, time and age shows on them as well. Being my private collection, there is an obvious ONLY ONE COPY per title. There will be continuous book drops all month, so be sure to check back in, but don't worry, we will nudge you when we add more titles.
I really did enjoy curated this selection for my community of readers, as it brought back so many memories and I also realised that some of my book choices were rather questionable. I have definitely been a reader who obsessed over a topic or an individual and in some cases, blindly purchased a book due to this obsession. I know many that agree to this statement about me ☺️ we live, we learn, we enjoy and most importantly we grow!
I have grown into a whole 45 year old and I am grateful for the 45 years of the good, bad and the ugly. Everything all rolled up makes me unique and this July, I celebrate that uniqueness.
Happy Birthday Month to me!
PS. Chief Quality Office, Pepper enjoyed pawing around the shelves to find the perfect books to bring to our Matured Collection. She cautioned me against some titles, and paw-approved the ones which will not embarrass Mamma, but mostly not embarrass her!
Lots of love and some birthday cake
