Shipping & Journeys: From Our Cellar to Yours

At Bookcellar, we believe the wait is part of the story, but we also know the feeling of checking the mailbox every five minutes. Here is how we get our curated finds to your door.

1. The Preparation (The Ritual) Every book undergoes our "Ritual Packaging" before it leaves us. This isn't just a box; it’s a ceremony. Please allow 24–48 hours for us to hand-wrap your selection, apply the wax seal, and include your personalized curator’s note.

• Note: Our Chief Quality Officer personally oversees every outgoing parcel.

2. The Transit (Across South Africa) We partner with reliable couriers who understand that books are precious cargo.

• Main Hubs (JHB, CPT, DUR): Your story should arrive within 2–3 business days.

• Regional Areas: Please allow 4–5 business days for the journey.

• The Cost: We offer a flat-rate shipping fee of R90, or free delivery for orders over R500.

3. The Track & Trace As soon as your book begins its journey, we will send you a tracking number. Think of it as a GPS for your next great adventure. You can follow its progress from our cellar right to your doorstep.

4. International Inquiries Currently, we only ship within the borders of South Africa. We are focused on bringing the world’s best foreign authors here, rather than sending them back out!

5. A Note on Sustainability While our packaging is premium, we strive to ensure it is as kind to the earth as it is beautiful. Please reuse our sturdy mailer boxes or recycle them once the "reveal" is over.
