The main character, Auggie Pullman, has Treacher Collins Syndrome, a rare genetic craniofacial disorder that affects the development of bones and tissues in the face.

I bought this book after thoroughly enjoying the movie starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay as August.  What an amazing movie, and an even better read!
